OBJECTIVES OF THE DMC
The Drought Monitoring Centres (DMCs) for Eastern and Southern Africa are charged with the responsibility of monitoring of drought in a timely manner with respect to its intensity, geographical extent, duration and impact upon agricultural production and to give early warning for the formulation of appropriate strategies to combat its adverse effects. The DMCs are therefore climate diagnostic centers from where information relating to drought and weather patterns is readily available to all interested users within and outside the Eastern and Southern African region.
